WHO I AM

Graduating for the University of Wisconsin Madison obtaining an bachelors in Communications Arts majoring in Radio, Film, and Television. Obtained certificates from the University of Wisconsin Madison in Entrepreneurship, Graphic Design, Summer Business, and also from Hubspot INC in Content Marketing.

My biggest driving force in life is giving back to specific areas and others which I have grown and used. If I can help others who’ve had similar struggles as to my own I will always do so. As you could tell by my works, I’m very passionate about sports, particularly basketball. Basketball has had a huge impact on who I am today and also my relationships. Watching, talking, playing, designing for, basketball has been my go to when I’ve been struggling mentally and also just pure enjoyment.

"Sam has many strengths, and during our time together, Sam has displayed great talents in graphic design, innovative thinking, work ethic, and ability to receive feedback. When I first interviewed Sam for the Graphic Design Internship position in December of 2022, I was immediately impressed with Sam’s vulnerability and passion for graphic design. One thing that stuck out to me about Sam, among the other candidates, was his passion for sports and eagerness to work in an environment that blends both sports and creativity. During our interview, Sam not only demonstrated being someone who is an exceptional listener and innovative thinker, but I truly admired his innate drive to go after his goals. I knew Sam was the perfect candidate for the Graphic Design Internship, and I was excited to be able to guide him as a graphic designer and person throughout his time at Rec Well.

Consistently, Sam’s designs are innovative and communicate messages extremely well. For example, Sam has a true talent for graphic design layout. The first task I assigned Sam was to create a flyer promoting the Fitness Department at Rec Well. When I received his first draft of the flyer I was blown away by the innovative design and quality of the content. To this day, I continue to use his flyer template for a variety of deliverables at Rec Well. His ability to communicate messaging through design is a talent that Sam is a master of.

Additionally, early in Sam’s career, I tasked him with creating sticker designs to promote the Climbing Wall Department at Rec Well. Throughout his drafts I advised him to move the design in a different route. Sam was immediately understanding, asked for clarification, and re-routed the project to create something new. Sam demonstrated that he’s able to change course at any given moment. This instance inspired me to create weekly 1-on-1 meetings with my students to gather feedback and express edits in a more personalized setting. Sam inspired me on my course as a supervisor to adjust to my student’s needs and I’m grateful for his feedback and willingness to change course during that project.

Overall, Sam has truly been one of my greatest graphic design students. He’s an asset to both the Marketing & Communications team and the Graphic Design team. To Sam’s core, he is a thoughtful, hardworking, and talented individual. I have been so grateful to be part of his journey as a graphic designer and it has been wonderful seeing him blossom as a person throughout our time. I know he will accomplish many brilliant things."
